Yikes!

1/2 folding bike, 1/2 electric bike, 1/2 sized penny farthing, fully awesome.

My folding bike (a Giant Halfway), weighs in at nearly 30 pounds.  This bike is 1/3 less weight, but 10 times the price.

Here's a round up of traditional folding bikes:

  1. Although Yike calls their product a bike, it's actually a very expensive folding scooter with a seat. Why? No pedaling mechanism. When the battery dies, you walk!

How long have you been riding the Halfway? Some Halfway users say the bikes begin to become squeaky after a few months due to frame flex - are you finding this to be true?

  2. You have a good point that its not a bike. But I don't think I'd classify it as a scooter.

Either way, I guess my math was wrong, too. Oh, well. It is still out of my price range.

I've been riding the Halfway for 8 years. It is one of my best purchases EVER. Sure, there have been issues with it; many parts have worn out. It's been so long, I don't recall if the frame squeaked in the first year, if it did, it didn't bother me much.

I'll grant you, it is on the low end of spectrum. But as far as an entry level folding bike goes, I couldn't have hoped for anything better.

It has opened my eyes to the world of foldables. When I replace it, someday, I plan to get something a bit higher end.
